The Membranes

The Membranes - Dark Matter Dark Energy

There have been some brilliant and breathtaking "guitar records" this year. And this is one of them.

Grauzone Day 2, Melkweg, Amsterdam, 31/1/15

The Membranes may flirt with a cartoony image of themselves but in the words of the Sage of Sheffield John Shuttleworth, don't be fooled.

Incendiary chow down with John Robb

“When you start to age now, you begin to think you're lucky.”

Cultuur Barbaar Festival Leiden 15/5/13 - 17/5/13

Needless to say the room loved it; and an incredible moshpit of slumming academics, street scruffs from Amsterdam, earnest vegans, journos in love with cheap booze, rentapunks, music bizz types and Antwerp scallies threw each other around with total abandon. Jeez, even one of the academics John Robb had given an ear wigging to was making selfies behind the vortex of flesh, sweat and cheap Aldi beer.

Incubate 2012 - Part One with Membranes Gnod Simon Reynolds and Ravage! Ravage!

I have to say from the off that this isn’t really a review of Incubate: this is a review of what happened at a venue, Café Extase, with the odd bit thrown in from elsewhere... Incendiary had teamed up with Louder than War and Smikkelbaard to curate our own conceit over the final weekend: “Cultural Cringe”

Incendiary's guide to Incubate 2012

This is our list of stuff to do at Incubate! Obviously we'd love you to come to our residency at the Extase - and encamp there over the weekend - but it's your time and you've spent your hard earned on a ticket so who are we to tell you what to do?

Incubate 2012 - Louder than War and Incendiary curate V39

Hot news! Louder Than War celebrates its own label launch at Incubate and Incendiarymag celebrates being 10!

The Membranes - R.O.O.T.S.

Hearing new stuff from the Membranes makes me realise just how much I’ve missed them. They always had a dayglo entertainer’s vibe married to an acute sense of what was going on around them, don’t be fooled by their (admittedly intoxicating) cartoon nature...
