Real Life Permanent Dreams

Brian Mathews' passion for talking over session intros right up the vocals either ruins or adds to the charm of the Traffic Jam's quite phenomenal I Don't Want You. Months later they would evolve into The Status Quo, a session version of whose Pictures of Matchstick Men is also featured.

Andy Ditzler - Songs From Yes and No

clever, funny and downright bonkers

Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog

Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car sets the tone, which is a good thing because its the first track on the album

Josh Ritter - The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter

This is just the sound of a band having fun and it's totally infectious.

Menomena - Friend and Foe

it entertains almost as much as it scares the shit out of you

Euros Childs - The Miracle Inn

some of the most beautiful tunes he's ever written

The Felice Brothers - Tonight at the Arizona

Loves are lost, drugs are bought and people die left right and centre. Great stuff.

Richard Hawley - Lady's Bridge

I still get the impression that Hawley would be more comfortable in a Working Men's Club than a rock and roll venue, and that's no bad thing.

Sugar and Gold - Creme

More Tom Tom Club than Scissor Sisters

Siberian - With Me

If you're a fan of Interpol, or The Killers, you'll probably find a lot here to keep you interested.

Patrick Watson - Close To Paradise

Rather like Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but without the fish playing saxophones.

Haldern 2007

Alex White's spot of bother with the mic late on was somehow in keeping with the rock n roll nature of the set. At least it allowed Tom to do his Madchester Ian Brown monkey-man impression.
